Frequently asked questions
What is TradingSmart?
TradingSmart is a web platform for commodity trading companies, developed by Cyanway Business. It manages deals, pipeline, sourcing, shipments, counterparties and commodity specs, and runs document-based counterparty due diligence before contracts are signed, producing explained red flags, an executive scorecard and a report that can be shared with a bank.
How does TradingSmart detect document fraud?
TradingSmart compares what a counterparty declares in its documents with what official registries show. Deterministic validators check passport MRZ digits (ICAO 9303), China USCC, Brazil CNPJ and IBAN (ISO 13616), and the engine flags conflicts across the package, such as two different IBANs for the same account or altered registry values.
What is counterparty due diligence in commodity trading?
Counterparty due diligence is the verification of a buyer, seller or intermediary before a contract is signed. It confirms the company legally exists, that its signatories are who they claim to be, that bank details are consistent, and that the company and people do not appear in sanctions lists or adverse court records.
Which documents can TradingSmart validate?
TradingSmart classifies and reads LOI, ICPO, FCO, CIS/KYC forms, contracts, business licenses, registry extracts (China GSXT, Brazil CNPJ card and generic registries such as Pakistan FBR or Bulgaria), passports, bank letters and screening printouts, in PDF or image form, using native text and vision OCR for scanned pages.
Does AI make the risk decisions in TradingSmart?
No. Language models only transcribe fields verbatim, and every extracted value must literally appear in the source text or it is discarded. All risk verdicts come from deterministic code, and a human can review, override or dismiss each finding with a recorded reason. “Not verifiable” is an accepted answer; the system never invents an OK.
Can I share the due diligence report with my bank?
Yes. Each analysis is saved as a frozen snapshot with a SHA-256 hash. You can send it to a bank or partner through a tokenized read-only link with optional password and expiry. The link is revocable, requires no login, and streams the underlying files only behind the gate.
Does TradingSmart compare Chinese and English company names?
No. TradingSmart never compares values across writing systems. English is compared with English and Chinese with Chinese, each on its own line, so an analyst can see equality or divergence directly. This avoids false matches produced by transliteration or translation and keeps every comparison verifiable by a human reviewer.
What happens when a passport MRZ is cut or illegible?
The analyst can enter the MRZ manually. TradingSmart still runs the ICAO 9303 check digits on the entered value, but the result is always labeled as not machine-verified, so anyone reading the report knows the source of the data. The system reports “not verifiable” instead of assuming a passport is valid.
Which commodities and companies is TradingSmart built for?
TradingSmart is built for commodity trading companies in food commodities such as frozen chicken paws, metals and agri products. Its users are owners and compliance or operations teams, trade-finance banks that receive due diligence reports, and brokers or intermediaries that run analyses under the As Intermediary standard.
How do users sign in to TradingSmart?
Users sign in with Microsoft (Entra ID) or Google accounts. Each user has a profile — SuperAdmin, Admin, Trader, Viewer or external Representative — and TradingSmart filters menus and data access by that role. Every risk decision is recorded with the user, time and reason in the audit trail.
